Key Words: Soybean Production Management Systems, Soybean On-farm Research
The GoBeans program will be implemented on ten farm locations at five locations in West TN and five locations in Middle TN. Sites would ideally be a split field situation where half of the field would receive the GoBeans program. Participating fields will be soil sampled prior to planting and the participating farmer will receive an Early-Season Management Plan with recommendations for fertilizer, variety selection, seed treatment, seeding rate and planting date. Fields will be scouted weekly or as needed for weeds, insects and diseases and the farmer will receive the Mid- and Late-Season Management Plan that reflects specific management recommendations. Participating producers should make every attempt to apply pest management products as recommended at the GoBeans locations. The GoBeans program will provide seed and foliar insecticide and fungicide products. An economic analysis comparing the GoBeans program to the producer’s base program will be identified where a producer could make changes in production practices in order to improve profitability of future soybean crops.
