Key Words: Soybean Aphid - Biocontrol, Soybean Aphid

The long-term goal of this continuing project is to develop improved pest management techniques for invasive soybean aphids in North Dakota. The special goal for this study is to investigate how soil nitrogen and nitrogen-fixation impacts pest density and control by the parasitoid Binodoxys communis. The specific objectives of this project are: • Determine how the source of nitrogen (from fertilization or N-fixation) impacts aphid densities; • Assess how the source of nitrogen impacts soybean biomass, nodule weight and foliar nitrogen levels; and • Examine how the source of nitrogen impacts parasitization of the soybean aphid by Binodoxys communis.
